Walk for Buddhist Education

As shown in the poster, Nālandā Buddhist Society will be organizing a Walkathon at Taman Bukit Jalil (the huge park near Bukit Jalil Golf and Country Resort) on 27 September 2009. They are collaborating with IMU Buddhist Society to conduct a fund-raising program whereby Walkathon Sponsorship Fund-raisers help to raise funds from friends and family with the Walkathon Sponsorship Card shown below:

Nālandā Buddhist Society has been operating Buddhist educational programmes in a one-floor shoplot since 2003 and hopes to expand their facilities by acquiring a 3-storey building in Seri Kembangan to establish a new Dhamma education centre.

This walkathon will be conducted in 4 categories:
  • Men 6km Walk
  • Women 6km Walk
  • Men/Boys 3km Walk
  • Women/Girls 3km Walk
To join this event, a registration fee of RM30 (for adults) and RM20 (for students between 7-18 years) is required.

Prizes will be given to participants in four categories:
  1. Participants who complete the walk will be given a certificate of participation and a token of appreciation.
  2. First ten places of each category will be given a special Winner's prize
  3. First twenty places of each category will be given a Finisher's Medal
  4. Walkathon Sponsorship fund-raisers will be entitled for a special lucky draw whereby ten draws will be made. (among the prizes are 2 10g Gold Nuggets)
Besides that, there will also be booths set up selling food, games and many more... So everyone from every religion (not only Buddhist) are welcomed to join this event.
